Single-use plastics will be abolished in Europe by 2021
In a vote of the parliament of the European Union, it was decided that single-use plastics, such as forks, straws and swabs, will be abolished from the continent until 2021.
Also at the meeting, it was studied how to reduce the use of food containers and plastic lids.
In addition, plastic bottles should be made with 25% recycled material by 2025 and by 2029 the rate will be 90%.
"We have taken a big step to reduce pollution. We are paving the way for the rest of the world", said Frans TImmermans, Vice-President of the European Commission.
